Notes:

1. The Stanford Achievement Test Series, Ninth Edition, Form T (Stanford 9), was designated as the 1998 STAR test in November 1997. School districts in California were required to test all students in grades 2 through 11, inclusive, between March 15, 1998 and May 25, 1998.

2. Students in grades 2 through 8 were required to be tested in reading, mathematics, written expression, and spelling. Students in grades 9 through 11 were required to be tested in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and history/social science.

3. The data used was for all students tested in the group. The limited English proficient (LEP) student results are contained in a different report.

4. Astrisks appeared in the original data file where scores were based on 10 or fewer students in order to protect student confidentiality.

5. The results are based on data provided to the Department of Education by Harcourt Brace Educational Measurement under contract with the California school districts

. These results, last revised on June 30, 1998 should be considered perliminary and are subject to revision.
